NYFW S/S '09: Ted Gibson @ Vena Cava

Ted Gibson @ Vena Cava
Inspired by a South African tribe that loves bright colors and geometric patterns, the Vena Cava designers sought to brighten their clothing with pops of color. Lips went cool with a slash of purple lipstick, while the nails shocked in electric blue with short, neat manicures. For hair, it was business up front, party in the back with a messy, irreverent bun. "We wanted something cool, mod and hip - not too girlie," said Gibson. "This look has duality - it's slick and sophisticated up front, but messy and textured in back.

“The collection is inspired by the graphic wall murals of the Ndebele tribe in South Africa, with a Maude Lebowski take on styling so we created a bold, graphic lip in violet.” – Lloyd Simmonds

Get the Look
M.A.C. Pro Lip Mix in different colours mixed to get solid, opaque violet lips. For hair, fasten hair into a low ponytail, and twist and backcomb it before pinning it into a bun. Then, spritz hair with Ted Gibson Beautiful Hold Hairspray and use your hands or a brush to rough up the hair just above the bun. Custom-mixed butter London cobalt blue shade nicknamed "corporate blue" used on nails - more on that here.
