Make Up For Ever @ Tyler Rose

At the Tyler Rose swim show on day 4 of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2011, the look was all about a fresh, sun kissed make up look that was inspired by David Lee Roth’s iconic “California Girls” music video. Make Up For Ever Alliance artist Lottie gave models a subtle pink flush around the eyes and cheeks with eyes defined in shades of black and rose.

Complexion & Cheeks: To get a strong flush on the entire cheek, apply HD Microfinish Blush #6 starting at the outer temples and sweeping downward to the apple of the cheeks.

Eyes: Apply Eye Shadow #152 to the entire lid and crease, extending to the base of the brow bone. Next, apply Eye Shadow #132 to the outer corners of the eye lid and sweep the color into the crease. Add more definition by lining the inner and outer lash lines with Waterproof Liner #1 in black. Finish with a thick coat of Aqua Smoky Lash.

Lips: To give the lips a pinky red pout, Lottie applied Lipstick #204 to make the color pop.

Playing on color contrasts to give a “wide-eyed doll effect,” Lucia Pieroni focused her attention on the models’ lids, using water-based makeup paint from MAC and Make Up For Ever to create a base for Shu Uemura Eye Shadows in shades of lilac and jade. “When working with bright pigments, it’s important to use a sponge applicator to build up an opaque coverage, then use a soft brush to feather out the edges,” Pieroni advises for those of you looking to play Miu Miu at home. To get the girls’ porcelain complexions, Pieroni used a pre-whitening brightener from Clé De Peau called Teint Naturel Blanc that luminizes and lightens the skin.

MAC to Donate its Global Profits from Rodarte Collection to Benefit Women and Girls of Juarez Initiative

MEXICO CITY, México, July 29, 2010In response to public concern over the limited edition MAC Rodarte makeup collection, set to launch in fall 2010, MAC will donate all of its global profits from this collection to a newly created initiative to raise awareness and provide on-the-ground support to the women and girls in Juarez. MAC and Rodarte are deeply sorry that this makeup collection was so offensive to the people of Mexico and concerned global citizens.

This announcement follows a meeting last evening in Mexico City with MAC executives and Mexican government officials, including CONAVIM (Comisión Nacional Para Prevenir y Erradicar la Violencia Contra las Mujeres/National Commission to Prevent and Eradicate Violence Against Women.)

During the meeting, held at the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this collective group committed to working together on the overall direction of the new initiative to help the women and girls of Juarez and to raise global awareness of their plight. MAC executives reiterated their deep regret and reinforced that it was never MAC’s or Rodarte’s intent to minimize the suffering of the women and girls of Ciudad Juarez.

In the coming weeks, MAC and Rodarte will be consulting with members of CONAVIM´s advisory board, as well as other local and global experts, to develop a comprehensive framework that provides grants to local and international organizations with a track record of improving the lives of the women and girls in Juarez.

We are deeply sorry and apologize to everyone we offended, especially the
victims, the women and girls of Juarez and their families. We have heard the
response of concerned global citizens loud and clear and are doing our very best
to right our wrong. The essence of MAC is to give back and care for the
community and our initial handling of this makeup collection was not reflective
of MAC’s values. MAC and Rodarte are committed to using these learnings to raise
awareness on this important issue and to leverage our unique platform to help
the women and girls of Juarez
,” said MAC President John Demsey.

Rodarte is committed to using creativity for positive social
change. As designers, we strongly feel it is our responsibility to use ideas and
actions for the good of our global community and are truly sorry for the offense
we have caused. We are raising our voices in support of the strong women and
girls of Juarez and joining others who are working internationally to improve
their lives
,” said Kate and Laura Mulleavy, designers of Rodarte.

Last week, MAC and Rodarte announced they would also be renaming the products and redesigning the marketing materials associated with the collection.

MAC has a longstanding tradition of service in Mexico, supporting important social causes in the country such as HIV prevention and treatment. Since 2002, the MAC AIDS Fund has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to local entities, including Fundación Eudes, La Casa de la Sal, A.C., Ser Humano, A.C., Mesón de la Misericordia Divina A.C., Pirana Studio, and Fundación Unidos por un México Vivo.

MAC has had operations in Mexico since 1999. The brand currently employs more than 150 local professionals.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Fall 2010: Real Housewives of the Tudor Dynasty

The more I learned of the queens’ wardrobes — the layers of embroidery, embellishments of pearls and fur and rich jewel toned fabrics — the more I saw a parallel with what’s going on in fashion this fall. Givenchy’s intricate brocades, Lanvin’s feather-festooned metallics, and the strong, powerful neutrals at Celine all served as starting points for Rescue Beauty Lounge’s Autumn/Winter color collection. Each color has micro particles of pink, blue, green, gold, and silver to add iridescence, similar the tiny colored threaded that give brocade fabrics their depth of color.” - Jim Baek

Henry first married his brother’s widow, Catherine of Aragon, daughter of Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand, who launched Christopher Columbus’ New World adventure. She was also Europe’s first female ambassador and a proponent of women’s education. Like this revolutionary free-thinker, Catherine is an intense royal purple with a pewter sheen.

Anne Boleyn was rumored to be a witch, with a tiny, mysterious sixth little finger that she hid with long, pointed sleeves that ended above her middle finger. Draw attention to your own regal digits with Anne, a complex gray-green with a jewel-like pink shimmer finish.

Jane Seymour was thought to be Henry’s favorite wife, as she was the only wife to give him a son, Edward VI. Sadly, she died soon after. Reputed to have created beautiful and elaborate needlework, her namesake polish Jane is at first glance a simple pale pearl. However a mere royal wave reveals washes of pale pink and lavender.

Catherine Howard was Henry’s teenage trophy wife, 19 to his near-50. Said to be a “rose without a thorn,” this beguiling beauty unfortunately turned too many heads, resulting in the loss of her own. Her ethereal beauty is captured in Catherine H., a shimmering Wedgewood blue, with just a hint of a darkening sky.

Misa Fall 2010: What I Like About You

Fall in Love This Fall With Misa Cosmetics’ What I Like About You Collection

Quirky Smile: Something about his lilted smile lets you know he’s interested…and
this shimmering Prussian blue is no less attention-grabbing. However, this rich shade
invites you into deeper territory—what’s lurking beneath? In this case, you’ll discover a
polish that evokes stormy skies and churning seas, a perfect metaphor for love’s mixed

Like It Like That: You can’t avoid feeling upbeat when a relationship is going just right,
or when gazing at nails that are the perfect shade. Just try to block this candy apple
green out of your mind; when you like it like that, why deny yourself the pleasure?

Spinning Out of Control: Sometimes you just can’t control yourself—and you
wouldn’t have it any other way. Embrace that euphoric feeling with a brooding
cobalt blue-violet that says, “Don’t stop this merry-go-round; I’m enjoying the ride!”

It’s You!: Searching for the perfect mate is like searching for the perfect nail polish
shade: When you find it, you know right away. Like a perfect-match partner, this
multilayered iridescent hue offers the best of both worlds: a smoldering forest green shot
through with copper ribbons that glimmer and twinkle perfectly in candlelight.

Perfect Kiss: Don’t blush! When you recognize a good moment, grab what’s yours: the
perfect kiss. A well-planted smooch can provide material for days of daydreaming, and
this vibrant fuchsia is equally fantasy-inspiring. An eye-catching color like this one will
have any man’s lips quivering uncontrollably.

When U Say My Name: Chances are, your man has plenty to say, but nothing is sweeter
than when he whispers your name while in a sweet embrace. Blissfully sink into the
moment while donning this sultry rust, and don’t be afraid to demand, “Say it again!”

Nailtini Fall 2010: MAD MEN

Janie Bryant must barely have time to take a breath these days. On top of working on the television show that’s all the rage, a book and a clothing collection for QVC, the “Mad Men” costume designer has partnered with Huntington Beach, Calif.-based nail polish brand Nailtini on four limited edition nail lacquers for fall. Bryant said she was inspired by fabrics used in cocktail dresses during the “Mad Men” era — velvets, satins and lamés — when creating the colors, which are a brown, gold, platinum and iridescent shade called Bourbon Satin, French 75, Deauville and Stinger, respectively. Michelle Toma Olson, founder of Nailtini, is hopeful Bryant will team up with Nailtini on a spring collection as well, but well before then the $14 fall polishes will hit CVS’ Beauty 360 and Duane Reade’s Look stores.

Make Up For Ever @ Aqua di Lara

On Day 2 of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim 2011, Make Up For Ever Alliance artist, Lottie, created a look with champagne and earth tones on the eyes with shimmery, metallic highlights at the Aqua Di Lara swim show.

Complexion & Cheeks: The skin was bronzed with highlights.
Eyes: Lottie first applied Aqua Cream #14 to the outer corners of the lids and blended inward. Next she applied Eye Shadow #17 to the crease and then dusted the outer corners and crease with Star Powder #930 to add a golden brown shimmer. The inner corner of the eyes were then dusted with Star Powder #946 to add a lighter dimension of shimmer. The eyes were lined with Waterproof Liner #1 in black and the lashes were coated with Aqua Smoky Lash.
Lips: For a shimmery nude lip, Lottie applied Fascinating Lip Gloss #16 as the finishing touch.

Make Up For Ever @ Mara Hoffman

For the Mara Hoffman swim show, Lottie took her inspiration from the bold swimwear, creating a “spacey” tribal make up look with bright accents of fuchsia and turquoise that put the focus on the eyes.

Complexion & Cheeks: The skin was bronzed and dewy with highlights on the brow bone and high cheek. Aqua Cream #7 in Fuchsia was applied lightly to the cheeks and blended heavily so only a slight pink flush remained.
Eyes: To create this tribal chic make up look, Lottie applied Aqua Cream #4 in white to the entire lid, up to the brow bone, blending it out. The eyes were defined using Aqua Eyes #0L in black on the bottom lash line only, and then Aqua Smoky Lash on both the top and bottom. Using a lip brush for added precision, Lottie drew small white dots at the top of the cheek bones starting from the outer corner of the eyes and over the blower bridge of the nose, following the natural shape of the eyes.
Lips: Lottie applied Lipstick #502, a matte nude lipstick, to keep the focus on the eyes.

U.S. Date:
September 15th, 2010 @ Select Partner Locations & MAC Stores Only

We understand that
product names in the M·A·C Rodarte collection have offended some of our
consumers and fans. This was never our intent and we are very sorry. We are
listening carefully to the comments posted and are grateful to those of you who
have brought your concerns to the forefront of our attention. M·A·C will give a
portion of the proceeds from the M·A·C Rodarte collection to help those in need
in Juarez. We are diligently investigating the best way to do this. Please be
assured that we will keep you posted on the details regarding our efforts.

Our makeup collaboration
with M·A·C developed from inspirations on a road trip that we took in Texas last
year, from El Paso to Marfa. The ethereal nature of this landscape influenced
the creative development and desert palette of the collection. We are truly
saddened about injustice in Juarez and it is a very important issue to us. The
M·A·C collaboration was intended as a celebration of the beauty of the landscape
and people in the areas that we traveled.

Make Up For Ever @ Ed Hardy

Make Up For Ever Alliance artist, James Vincent served as the key make up artist for the Ed Hardy swim show on Friday, July 16th. James created a bold black eye and strong red lip for a glamorous, old Hollywood look.

Complexion & Cheeks: The skin was bronzed and dewy with highlights on the brow bone and high cheek.
Eyes: To get a neutral base for the eye, James applied Make Up For Ever Eye Shadow #156 up to the brow bone. He then created a thick rim around the top of the eye extending to the liner beyond the outer corner of the lid using Make Up For Ever Aqua Black, and he then went on to rim the lower lash line as well. He finished by applying two coats of Make Up For Ever Aqua Smoky Lash.
Lips: For a gorgeous pop of red on the lips, James applied Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream #8.

Make Up For Ever @ Dolores Cortes

Make Up For Ever Alliance artist, Lottie, served as the key make up artist for the Dolores Cortés swim show on Friday, July 16th. Lottie created a beautiful safari-chic make up look inspired by bohemian references of the 50’s Parisian woman, combined with acid and exotic colors from Bells Beach in Australia. The end result was a palette of shimmering greens and golds.

Complexion & Cheeks: The skin was glowing and fresh faced. Lottie first applied Make Up For Ever Sculpting Blush #22 to lightly highlight the cheeks.
Eyes: The eyes were the focal point of the look. Lottie first applied Make Up For Ever Diamond Shadow #302 in teal to the lid, and then applied Make Up For Ever Diamond Shadow #310 in a shimmering emerald green starting one quarter of the way in from the outer corner of the eye to the outer eye lid and then into the crease and lower brow bone. Next Lottie applied Make Up For EverAqua Cream #11 in gold to the inner corner of the eye lid for a metallic pop. The eyes were lined with Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes #0L in black and the lashes were coated with Make Up For Ever Aqua Smoky Lash.
Lips: Depending on each model’s preference for a matte or glossy nude lip, Lottie applied either Make Up For Ever Lipstick #502 or Make Up For Ever Glossy Full Couleur #10 to complete the look.
