FW SS11: CoverGirl & Redken @ Versace

“Donatella wanted a new direction and a new type of glamour,” explained hairstylist Guido Palau, working with Redken backstage. “It’s a tough glamour and a hard, sculptured style.”

GET THE LOOK
NatureLuxe Silk Foundation by CoverGirl -launches January 2011- was used to create a smooth base.Warm pink bllush shades were applied onto it. CoverGirl’s LashBlast Length Mascara in Black was applied to upper lashes only to create a dark alluring eye. CoverGirl’s Professional Eye Enhancer eye shadow in Mink was applied to the eyelids whilst brows were defined and strengthened using Anastasia Perfect Brow Pencil in brown.

Hair was slicked back using Redken’s 016 Hardwear Gel before being twisted into a low knot and covered in black PVC squares. Before the models hit the runway, hair was smeared in Redken’s Glass 01 Smoothing Serum for a glossy edge to the no-nonsense style.

FW SS11: Dolce & Gabbana Beauty @ Dolce & Gabbana

At the Dolce&Gabbana Spring/Summer 2011 Ready to Wear show in Milan, Dolce&Gabbana evoked the relaxed elegance of Sicilian sensuality. The collection’s easy glamour was also evident in the palette used on models’ eyes and lips, each taken from Dolce&Gabbana The Make Up.

GET THE LOOK
McGrath blended away imperfections and under-eye shadows with Dolce & Gabbana’s Perfect Finish Concealer Stick. Dolce & Gabbana’s Blush in Caramel was liberally applied to the cheeks and eye shadow in Nude to eyelids.

The eyeshadow quad in Nude, the eyeliner in Nude, the mascara in Black was used on eyes.

Lips were blended using warm colors including burgundy, plum and red from Dolce & Gabbana’s new Lip Jewel range. -Classic Cream Lipstick quartet in Dahlia, Devil, Ultra and Nude-

Nails were painted in Nude Nail Polish.

FW SS11: Shiseido & Lipmann @ Narciso Rodriguez

"Narciso incorporated a lot of bright color in his collection so I chose an overall soft, neutral look with surprise hits of color," said makeup lead Dick Page. "It's all about the eyes and these colors look particularly beautiful on girls with green eyes," he added.

GET THE LOOK
For the face, apply a light layer of foundation that appears sheer and almost transparent. Next, apply blush in the 'Whisper' shade and brush on cheekbones. For eyes, start by applying a light layer of concealer over any dark circles. With a fluffy brush, apply a coral brown cream into the crease as well as the outside corners in order to give the eye shape. Continue with a little coral on the lower lash line. Smooth a dry brush over the cream to blend in the color. Finish by dusting a little translucent powder on top to hold the color in place. On the pout, mix Sheer Lipstick in Tea Rose and Petal for a delicate rosy color.

For nails, apply two layers of a beige color called Fashion. Finish with a shiny top layer of Addicted to Speed.

FW SS11: Burberry Beauty & Burberry

Burberry Prorsum’s backstage was transformed into a biker den, albeit a very chic one. Wendy Rowe concocted an understated makeup look with items from the Burberry Beauty color collection."We’re doing a sultry eye and fresh skin,” she said.

GET THE LOOK
- Luminious Fluid Foundation as base, eyes and lips & powder to set it on
- Rosewood, Khaki and Almond eyeshadows blended to create subtly smokey eyes
- Nutmeg lipgloss dabbed over foundation
- Light Glow Blush in Peony or Russet was used to contour cheeks

FW SS11: Topshop Makeup @ Uniqlo

Working with Topshop’s makeup line, Hannah Murray honed in a statement lip. “The inspiration is Roxy Music, Jerry Hall and the Seventies,” said Murray. “But she’s still a cool London girl.”

GET THE LOOK
For glowing '70s skin, the models were sprayed with St Tropez Spray Tan before Skin Glow in Dark was applied to the cheekbones, nose, chin, collarbones and shoulders. The eyes were left bare apart from a touch of highlighter that was used on the eyelids to bring the eyes alive. Skin was prepped with Topshop Skin Tint in Dark to even out skin tone. Eyebrows were defined slightly with a brown eyeshadow, while lips were coated with Dare Devil lipstick followed by three thick layers of lip gloss in Cardinal Sin.

FW SS11: L'Oreal @ Matthew Williamson

"The idea is that the girls are shipwrecked, and that means that makeup can't look look too perfect," -James Kaliardos.

GET THE LOOK
Skin was prepped with L'Oreal Studio Secrets primer. Nude and pink tones from L'Oreal Paris Studio Secrets lipstick range were worked into the lips, with with L'Oréal Contour Parfait lip pencil in Vintage Rose was used to keep a natural shape. The sand-swept eyelids were achieved with a stroke L'Oreal's Chrome Intensity Eyeshadow in Cocoa.

FW SS11: Benefit @ PPQ

The Spring line was packed with tight fitting minidresses decorated with frills and peplums. They were strapless or with thin straps and accessorised with thick waist belts. The urban - with - a - touch - of - sun look was makeup's theme too.

GET THE LOOK
A bronzed healthy look was achieved dusting Hoola with Benefit Bronzing Blush over skin that was prepped with You Rebel Tinted Moisturizer. Brows were defined with Brow Set. Benefit make up artists did a very wearable exotic eye using Benefit Bad Gal (the waterproof version). Lips were left bare except a dab of Benetint Lip Balm on the middle for rosy look.

FW SS11: L'Oreal @ Julien Macdonald

Sharon Tate’s turn in "Valley of the Dolls" inspired hair and makeup at Julien Macdonald.“It’s sexy and bedhead-y in, but in a modern way,” said hairstylist Malcolm Edwards, who was working with L'Oréal Professionnel. James Kaliardos, who was working with L’Oréal Paris, also referenced Tate for the show’s makeup look.

GET THE LOOK
Edwards prepped hair with Tecni.Art Pli, Hot Style Constructor and Play Ball Texture Tonic before styling with tongs. Hair was worn loose save for some sections, which were pinned in place.

Kaliardos used Studio Secrets Professional Smoothing Resurfacing Primer to prep skin, and eyeshadows in shimmery brown and champagne hues to create a rounded eye shape. He elongated central lashes with Volume Million Lashes mascara to accentuate peepers’ rounded appearance. Lips were bare and moisturized with balm.

FW SS11: Stila @ Rebecca Minkoff

Rebecca’s collection was inspired by many of her travels, so Sarah didn’t want the girls to look overdone. Instead, she wanted them to look somewhat matte and sandy like they had been at the beach or out walking on the road.

Prep skin with One Step Correct; conceal and create a base with One Step Makeup; set with Pressed Powder. Apply Long Wear Lip Color in In the Nude on lips. Apply One Step Prime Color in Bronze Babe on lips and cheeks, and blend.

Prime eyes with Prime Pot in Caramel - new for spring. Apply eyeshadow in Dune as base; Pigalle on the crease; Puppy in the middle to soften edges. Line eyes with Kajal Liner in Tiger's Eye. Coat lashes with GlamourEyes mascara.

FW SS11: Stila @ Jenni Kayne

Jenni Kayne painted a very clear picture of what her girl is doing this season - "taking a California drive up the coast and ending up at Joshua Tree," explains Sarah Lucero from Stila.

GET THE LOOK
-Fill in brows will Stila brow powder and brush them up so they look natural and full.
- Use the One Step Foundation and Perfecting Concealer wherever needed, applying with the #33 foundation brush (new this fall).
- Apply One Step Prime Color in Bronze Babe in face where sun hits.
- Put Primer Pot in Puppy and Caramel all over the lid - both new for fall. Use fingers for that.
- Contour eyes with Puppy eyeshadow.
- Finish eyes with GlamourEyes mascara.
- Apply Coconut Crush lip stain all over the lips and top off with One Step Prime Color in Bronze Babe .

FW SS11: Stila @ Whitney Eve

"The look is supposed to be super hip but simple and attainable at the same time," said Bethany Wojtech for Stila.

GET THE LOOK
Apply a light layer of Iluminating Tinted Moisturizer to face. Conceal flaws with Perfecting Concealer. For cheeks, NEW All Over Shimmer Duo in Kitten was used. For lips, line them with Kajal Eyeliner in Topaz and apply Long Wear Lip Color in In the Nude for a natural effect.

Prime eyes with Prime Pot in Taffy. There were 2 eye looks: one was a neon green look created by using Going Green trio, and one was a bright lilac look created by using Venus trio. Both looks were applied with wet brushes and blended to brow sheerly. Both were finished off with a coat of GlamourEyes mascara.

FW SS11: Stila @ Lela Rose

The collection was Peruvian inspired, and the makeup had a matte bold orange lip contrasting against neutral skin and eyes.

GET THE LOOK
Prep skin with One Step Makeup. Prime eyes with Prime Pot - launches spring '11. Apply eyeshadow in Dune all over the lid and contour with eyeshadow in Puppy. Coat lashes with MAJORlash Mascara. For lips, use Longwear Lip Colour in Outrageous and Lover, mixing depending on skintone. Press eyeshadow in Mimosa on lips.

FW SS11: Max Factor & Pantene @ Twenty8Twelve

Pat McGrath dreamed up a makeup look based on a young woman's travels in New Mexico for the Twenty8Twelve show. Stylist Sam McKnight, meanwhile, opted for a slightly disheveled look for hair. "The girl is a London girl, a cool girl," he said, describing a look resembling a woman's hair one or two days after it had been perfectly groomed.

GET THE LOOK
Working with Max Factor, McGrath created what she called "sunny skin" usingMax Factor bronzer. The look also incorporated brown mascara and beige eyeliner. A strong lip was created using a mix of Max Factor lipstick in Bewitching Coral and Intensely Red.

Working with Pantene products, he worked Ice Shine Volumizing Mousse into center-parted hair before blow drying and using tongs to add movement to random sections. "That's not for curl, but to smooth the hair and to give wave and body," he explained. He then loosely braided large sections of hair and used a straightener to clamp the plaits. The braids were then released and the hair gently tousled. He finished the look with Flexible Hold hairspray.
