Fall's Nail Trend

There’s something about incipient Spring that brings on a shift toward a more neutral color palette. And while you’ll see it in all of the new collections on shelves now—with eyeshadows in “Sand Dune” and lip shades of the “Almond Kiss” variety leading the charge—short of pale pinks and sheer creams, the kind of true-to-flesh nail polish hues perfected by companies like Uslu Airlines seem to get less attention.

Between editorials like this one from last month’s Numero and a major shout out backstage at Miu Miu (that’s Shu Uemura’s Innocent Beige, in case you were wondering), the fashion world’s embrace of deep tan lacquers should end “Ballet Slippers” reign at the top. You can accessorize the color with a peach or black smoky eye as pictured above. But we’re partial to a technique we frequently borrow from Adi Gil of the design collective THREEasfour, who once told us that she likes to add French manicure tips in neon colors to her nude fingers.
