February 2008 was the kick off to a great relationship with pop star Fergie and the MAC Cosmetics Viva Glam campaign. Tapping into the young generation of The Duchess' fan base, Fergie has faithfully carried the message of HIV/AIDS awareness. From incorporating MAC product placements into several of her music videos (with the most apparent in "Clumsy"), remixing the hit "Glamorous" aptly renamed "Viva Glamorous" into an anthem for the foundation for the launch of her special edition lipglass in March 2008, to personal appearances Fergie has repped both the MAC brand and the Viva Glam foundation respectably. 100% of the sales from the Special Edition Lipglass Viva Glam VI, a soft pink-tinged rose mauve, go directly towards the VG fund. MAC Cosmetics is one of the only brands to completely underwrite the cost of the product for charity driven sales, and also is one of the single largest corporate funders of HIV/AIDS organizations.
Viva Glam VI special edition lipglass shade is set in the MAC Release Date calendar for a refresh launch on March 19th, 2009. As you can see from the visual, this will indeed be a radical update. VG images are normally associated with powerful women in fiery tones of red, the new Viva Glam image is instead a softer Fergie outfitted in a beautiful purple feathered creation.
