Clinique Youth Surge

Clinique unveiled its new anti-ageing treatment, Youth Surge SPF15 Age Decelerating Moisturizer, at the Connaught Hotel in London at an event hosted by Executive Director for Clinique Research & Development Dr Tom Mammone. The product will rolled out to travel retail worldwide.

Leveraging Sirtuin technology, Clinique science uses youth-extending agents to create a daily moisturizer quite like a fountain of youth. Lines and wrinkles seem to evaporate, replaced by plump, vibrant skin alive with collagen and elastin. Skin gains strength over environmental agers. Looks younger, longer.

Inspired by cutting-edge Sirtuin activation technology and anti-glycation science, the new patent-pending treatment is described as a comprehensive anti-ageing skin care product that helps enable skin to both prevent and repair the visible signs of ageing. Sirtuins (also known as “longevity genes”) are vital in helping extend the function and life of cells. Sirtuins are naturally occurring, youth-extending agents found in the skin, which help maintain the healthy equilibrium of cells.

Youth Surge SPF15 Age Decelerating Moisturizer uses a unique-to-Clinique molecule, Isonicotinamide, which is claimed to help reduce the appearance of ageing, optimise natural repair; and restore a youthful look to ageing skin. It is part of a Sirtuin-activating complex that also contains Luteolin and NADH.

In addition, the Youth Surge formula also features anti-glycation technology, which helps to protect fragile and healthy natural collagen and elastin, to maintain the skin’s suppleness and resilience. Sugars found in ageing skin bind to proteins and form Advanced Glycation End-products (AGEs). The formation of AGEs contributes to the ageing process by exacerbating the accumulation of damage to the skin. Lastly, Youth Surge features photo-stable UV protection, which guards against UVA “ageing” sun rays, to help prevent lines and wrinkles occurring in the future.

Youth Surge is addressing longevity genes, the Sirtuins, the cell biology, and helps reduce the effects of excessive glycation on the skin,” summed up Mammone. “This new product has a dual function. With its sunscreen, it continues to address external ageing. But we are also looking from inside, 180 degrees the other way. We do now realise that we age from the inside, and that we want to activate some of these longevity genes [to combat this].” He continued: “This is immensely important: it’s breakthrough, platform technology, almost how it was 15 years ago with anti-oxidants.”

Youth Surge SPF15 Age Decelerating Moisturizer will be available in three skin-typed formulas: Very Dry to Dry, Dry Combination and Combination Oily to Oily. It will be available as a 30ml and 50ml domestically, priced at £28 and £37, respectively.
